Happy Memorial Day!
This year we had a super low-key memorial day. It was just John, baby Biggie, and me! Is it just me or does Trader Joe's have the best samples? Seriously, I bought all the ingredients to make these hot dogs w/bacon cheddar ranch dip. It was a splurge, not some thing done regularly at all. They were super easy, tasty, and festive. What's more American than a hot dog on Memorial Day? Now I'm sure the hot dogs of years past weren't uncured, nitrate free on whole wheat buns, but none the less they where as red, white and blue as it gets.It was also Herc's first hot dog ever, (besides the sample bite in the store.)
Bacon Cheddar Ranch Hot Dogs
Ingredients:
1- pack whole wheat buns
1- pack jumbo or regular Trader Joe's uncured,
nitrate free beef hot dogs
1 - tub bacon cheddar ranch dip
Shredded cheese
Avocado slices (opt.)
Steam or boil hot dogs for about 8 minutes. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then open the buns and
smear some of the dip on both sides, whatever looks good to you. Put your hot dogs in the bun and sprinkle with some cheese. Throw in oven for about 6 minutes or until cheddar is melted. Then add your avocado if you please.

RANDOM GOODNESS
Hi! Remember me? I'M BACK! So much has happened in the last two years and I can't wait to share. First of all I had a baby. He's not such a baby any more, he's one and a half but he looks like he's three. His name is Heracles but we call him Herc for short. I love him he's the best! He is a wild little thing and takes up my every waking hour, but that kid has inspired me in so many ways. So I'm ready to pass on all my Random Goodness that he shares with me!

A little push.

I have a great friend named Felicia. Felicia is the kind of woman who follows her heart in everything she does. When she saw she liked working with hair she just taught herself... then went to school. Liked set designing and interior decorating... made a business card and just did it. Felicia does not hesitate, ever. So when Felicia called me the other day to help her decorate a media bus for the ROOTS Grammy Party, I followed in her foot steps and I just did it. This year is different, I feel it. I have been more active in finishing my projects, and no more convincing myself my stuff isn't good enough! I love creating, I love colors, I love cutting, I love sewing, I love being RECKLESS. Felicia likes that about me, she asked me to assist her cause she saw my sushi print pillows with blue pom-pom balls around the edges. Felicia gave me the push I needed and I thank her for believing in me! The bus was an old rock n' roll bus behind a venue on Sunset, it was gross and run down. Our job was to make it interview ready for Vibe magazine. I reupholstered the seats and layed carpet, and didn't hesitate once. Here's how it turned out. P.S. if you look at the lower left hand side of the left picture you can see a tiny bit of my sushi pillow!

Its been a while
Hello, hello, hello. It sure has been a while, things around here finally feel like they are back to normal. We had a great time in San Francisco. We walked a ton and ate a lot of ice cream...and you know we did some honeymoon stuff. As soon as we got back John was on the grind, shooting a Doritos commercial and as that wasn't enough booked Heroes. Our apartment is finally painted and organized and it feels great to have a place for everything. I feel like everything I dreamed about is slowly falling into place. This is such a wonderful time in my life and I feel so blessed. Patience is so important and though its quite hard to have it sometimes, it is worth it. I wish I had something amazing to share with you but I don't. What I do have however is a recipe that takes some patience but it is well worth the wait. I made it for John the other night and he loved it. It really is the little things that make everyday special.
Easy Rice pudding
1 gallon whole milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup white rice (uncle ben's original)
1 orange peel
2tsp. vanilla (opt.)
cinnamon to garnish
Pour milk, sugar and rice in a stock pot. Cook for two hours maybe a little longer over a low heat.
Stir every 15 minutes (make sure you use a wooden spoon and run it along the bottom of pot to prevent rice from sticking and burning). When you see that it is beginning to thicken stir in the orange peel and vanilla. Once it has thickened turn off heat, remove orange peel and pour into serving bowls. Sprinkle with cinnamon and let cool. Enjoy!
